So you ask yourself, what is Social Gamer talking about? Well to be honest it’s simple.
Many Youtube channels and the social media outlets are so focused on the capabilities of the latest RTX GPUs from Nvidia, but somehow forget that the RX Vega 56 and RX Vega 64 are still more than capable and even in many instances surpass some of Nvidia’s top selling graphics cards including but not limited to the RTX 2080.
When the latest Resident Evil title came out about a week ago, many folks online claimed that you’d need a mega graphics card in order to max out the settings and play at 60+ fps on super high resolutions like 1440p or 4K.
I must admit that at 4K the Vega 64 might only push out a stable or consistant 30 fps but drop down the settings to a medium, then 60 fps is truly possible. At 1440p you’ll linger around the 80 – 100 fps on MAX settings drop down to high settings then you’ll be looking at 100+ fps easily.
Below I did a live stream with the Resident Evil 2’s settings at MAX with all special options turned on and on DirectX 12.
((The stream itself is at 720p/60fps but the game play I used where set to 1080p with a locked 60 fps.)) I stream using the same PC to stream so MAXing out the game and trying to stream at 1080p/60 isn’t quite possible. But, you’ll get an idea of how great the game will run on the Vega 64 paired with the R7 2700X and 3200MHz DDR4 memory.
